Beliefs Create Results

Believe in Yourself

Believe in Yourself

How strong is your belief in yourself and your business?  Your successful business depends upon your belief in yourself and your ability to build and enhance your successful business.  Building a successful business starts with the strength of your belief.

“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.”  Bradley Whitford

Your beliefs are the core of your thought patterns.  What you think and feel in your core directly affect your actions and your results.

Belief in Yourself

As a new business owner, it is only natural to have a few nervous moments and hesitations.  You have so many new learning

experiences all at once.  Your emotions probably run the gamut from extremely excited to puzzled to slightly scared and back to totally optimistic.  If you are like me when I started my first business, your emotions are on a constant roller coaster speeding up and slowing down while climbing and plunging simultaneously.  The one constant in all of that turbulence was the rock solid belief in the future of building a successful business.

Belief in yourself is the foundation of your business.  True, you have to have a solid company and a valuable product you know the marketplace wants, needs and will purchase.

As a team leader you not only have to maintain belief in yourself and your personal ability to continue building a successful business but you also have to work with your team members to help them maintain their belief in themselves and their future.

Life is interesting.  Stone wears away with water.  Wood rots.  People die.  Things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, and a belief endure.  The most fragile in substance is the most powerful and lasting.

Your belief in yourself is the most powerful.  Never let anything take that away from you.

You may have hesitations about how to use a certain software, or the best words to use in an ad, but those are only momentary questions.  Your belief in yourself and your ability to build a successful business remains intact regardless of these momentary hesitations.

Overcoming Monkey Chatter

Ignore the negative monkey chatter

Ignore the negative monkey chatter

You know those voices in your head which say You can’t do that?  I’ve heard them and so have you.  That chatter is your doubts and fears trying to sabotage your dream.  You have heard them at various times in your life from the time you were quite small.  Those voices are trying to pull your confidence down and break your resolve to succeed.

Your thoughts are your beliefs and your fears doing battle.  Even in a time of crisis, your belief in yourself and your future must be victorious.

“What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability.  It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.”  Tony Robbins

So what can you do?

“Believe in yourself and stand for your dream.  Even in the midst of difficult times . . . you need to maintain the confidence and conviction that you can achieve what you want.”

Use the most powerful seconds of your entire day to your fullest advantage.  The first seventeen seconds after you awake from

an alpha sleep and the last few seconds before you drift off into an alpha sleep are the most powerful seconds of your entire day.  Those are the seconds when your subconscious mind is the most receptive to instructions.

What are your thoughts at those times?  How can you help yourself to create more powerful positive opening and closing thoughts?

Create positive habits.

  • Read a few lines of something inspiring, motivating and uplifting just before drifting off to sleep.
  • Read your affirmations or write your affirmations.
  • Look at your dream board.
  • Look at a picture of those you love.
  • Play some soothing music which creates pleasurable images in your mind.

  • Watching the news. The media seems to sensationalize the negative events.
  • Watching a television program which contains violence.
  • Arguing with someone or working on something which is difficult or distressing.

If you do not currently engage in a routine which promotes positive final thoughts before drifting off to sleep, seriously consider changing your pre-sleep practices.

Awaking with positive thoughts and images takes a bit more effort, but it is possible.

  • Change your alarm to music. Energizing, soothing or your special song . . . what music you choose is not as important as how you feel when you hear that music.
  • Choose a recording of your children laughing.
  • Choose a recording of your mentor’s words of wisdom.

What you choose is what inspires, motivates and energizes you.

“Working hard is important, but there is something that matters even more . . . Believing in Yourself.”  Harry Potter

Your successful business depends upon your belief in yourself and your ability to build and enhance your successful business.  Building a successful business starts with the strength of your belief.  Your beliefs are the core of your thought patterns.  What you think and feel in your core directly affects your actions and your results.

“Devote yourself to an idea.  Go make it happen.  Struggle on it.  Overcome your fears.  Smile.  Don’t forget: this is your dream.”

When you start your day with positive thoughts and end your day with positive thoughts, you enhance the probability of a positive day.  String enough positive days together and you will build a successful business and a successful life.

Your Mind is a Fertile Garden

Your mind is a fertile garden.  What you plant, you will reap.

Think with passion

Focus on a truth you can accept and heal

Thinking = Results

When you have a tough day, it is easy to plant seeds of discontent.  Plant discontent, discouragement and doubt of your ability and you will harvest more negative results.   You will always receive more of whatever you give your time, energy and focus.  Thinking negative thoughts yields negative feelings.  How much positive action have you ever observed in yourself or others as a result of negative feelings?

Concentrate on gratitude, joy, and inner peace and you will yield results of events for which you are thankful.  What you think about, you bring about.  Henry Ford said, “If you think you can or if you think you can’t, you are right.  It is the thinking that makes it so.”  Positive thoughts create positive results.  Create a success plan centered within positive thoughts.

How many times have you seen an athlete or a sports team make a series of mistakes or get behind in the scoring?  The winners shake it off and bounce back.  Winners know that positive thoughts are an essential part of their success plan.  The ones who allow themselves to become mentally defeated will also be defeated in the scoring.  Once they make a few mistakes and become upset with themselves or the situation, they compound the problem by increasing their mistakes.  The downward momentum accelerates and the results plummet into a negative hole.

Byron Nelson had a goal of buying his dream ranch and he created a success plan to earn the money.  Byron won 11 golf tournaments in a row by focusing on earning the money to purchase his dream ranch.  After he accomplished his dream of purchasing the ranch, he won another 7 tournaments that season.  Imagine winning 18 tournaments in a season.  When Byron was asked how he accomplished that feat, he replied that all of his thoughts and energy were focused on earning enough money to buy the ranch.  As for the last seven tournaments he said, “I just felt so good that I kept on winning.”  His focused positive thoughts propelled him to positive results and feeling good continued the winning streak.

When you feel negative thoughts creeping into your mind, replace them as quickly as possible with positive thoughts.  Your success plan must be centered within positive thoughts.  Positives create positive results.

Take a walk outside and gaze into the distance.  The fresh air, sunshine and exercise will clear your head and your spirits.  If you love the beauty of nature as much as I do, you automatically feel better, think more positive thoughts, and feel more positive feelings when you gaze at a field of flowers, a beautiful blue sky or a bunny rabbit scurrying along the trail.  Throughout history all of the aristocracy took daily walks.

Listen to your favorite music, play with your pet or think about people you love.  Think of something you are grateful for in your life.  Focus on positive thoughts in order to create positive results.  Include a list of actions which make you feel better in your life’s success plan.

Your Thoughts are Your Key to Success

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.  It is the thinking that makes it so.”  Henry Ford

Do you want more profit in 2014?  If you are like me, the answer is “yes.”  If we are not focused on making a profit in our business, we do not have a business; we have an expensive, time-consuming hobby.

How do we increase our profit?  Profit increases by providing excellent value to our customers.  As the Geico commercial states, we all know that fact.   Do you know that you possess a critical control of your profit?  The focal point of your success plan must always be your positive thoughts.  Your thinking determines more of your success than you may have given it credit.

When I started Mountain Castles Property Management, fellow Steamboat business owners and even friends and family told me that a property management company specializing in single family homes would never succeed.  Call it naïve, foolish or stubborn; I believed Mountain Castles would succeed.

What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”  Napoleon Hill

Mountain Castles did succeed.  Every time doubts would creep in to my thought pattern I immediately refocused my thoughts on what was going right and the ultimate goal.  The unwavering success plan was positive thoughts of success based on “How can I?”

Business success and profit are the initial focus of most successful business people.  At some point, we realize that it is not all about the money and success.  The most important factor is the person we become in the process.  Positive thoughts and a mindset of constant self-improvement result in more success in every aspect of our lives.

When something seemingly negative happens, transform the thought immediately into “What good can come from this?”  Almost by magic, something good does come for it.

You get what you think about most of the time. When you focus on good thoughts and believe good will result, it does.  When you focus on what you don’t want or lack of what you want, you will receive lack and what you don’t want.  You choose.

Success Plan Key

Your thoughts create or remove emotional blocks

Your thoughts create or remove emotional blocks

One critical key noted in Napoleon Hill’s statement and echoed more subtly in Henry Ford’s statement is the belief.  Ask any of the richest and most successful people in the world their secret success plan and you will hear that they were laser focused on a goal and totally believed that they could and would achieve it.

Highly successful people have a different thought pattern than unsuccessful people.  Highly successful people focus on what they want and feel good about achieving their success plan.  Unsuccessful people focus on what they don’t want; unconsciously they are focusing on the fear of not achieving or the lack of what they truly want.

Whatever you really, really, really want and believe you will receive, you will get.  Whatever you really, really, really don’t want and think about repeatedly, you will also get.  As stated on the cover of Emotional Ice Water, “It’s what YOU think, feel and do.”

History Proves the Thought Success Plan

Andrew Carnegie was the richest man in the world when he commissioned Napoleon Hill to dedicate twenty years of his life to discovering the secrets of success.  The result of that project was the books, The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons and Think and Grow Rich.  Note the title is Think and grow rich, not work hard and grow rich, be lucky and grow rich or even be a genius and grow rich.  It is the thinking which makes it so.

If your goal is to increase your profit in 2014, the place to start is within your own thinking.  When you focus on positive thoughts of what you truly want and believe you can achieve, you create a powerful vibration which draws the success to you.  Remember the book The Secret which was all the rage a few years ago?  It also emphasized this powerful success plan.  You control your present and your future with your focus on positive thoughts and belief in positive results.

Nerves to Success

Your knees are shaking and your throat is dry.  Your nerves are all firing and the speech is 3 days from now.

Elaine Love

Presentations coach, professional speaker, author, and trainer

You know your subject matter.  You have researched the company, spoken with the meeting planner and know exactly the problem you are being hired to solve, and you even practiced your speech.  What’s the problem?  You are so nervous that your mind is flashing images of suddenly forgetting your speech, being so tongue tied that you can’t deliver a coherent sentence and even having such sweaty hands that you can’t hold the microphone.  Stop!  Breathe!  It is time for a mind shift.

You need to calm down.  Quiet your mind and refocus on positives.

An old Cherokee told his grandson, “My son there is a battle between two wolves inside us all.  One is Evil.  It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.  The other is Good.  It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth.”

The boy thought about it, and asked, “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”

The old man gently replied, “The one you feed.”

If you fear failure, you are feeding your mind negatives instead of encouragement.  Refocus your thoughts.  It is all about what you think, feel and do.

Give yourself advantages instead of handicaps.  Start with something very easy to do.

If you are like me, you always feel better when you are wearing one of your favorite outfits.  When you wear your special outfit, you hear compliments. “Wow, you look amazing today.”  “That color brings out your eyes.”  “You look great today.”

When you feel attractive, you naturally relax.  Give yourself every advantage possible.  Dressing in one of your favorite outfits increases your feeling of success and relaxes you.

Try visualizing the audience smiling and nodding approval.  See the audience members taking notes and slightly leaning forward in their seats with rapt attention to you.  Picture them relaxing and enjoying your content; they even laugh at the appropriate sections.

Top salesmen frequently visualize in advance of their presentation how the client will demonstrate signs of approval during their presentation.  The most successful salesman will picture the client smiling as they sign the sales contract.  Top earners picture every deal of a successful sales call in advance of stepping one foot of their designer shoes in the lobby door.

Successful stage performers picture the audience engaged and enjoying their entire performance.  They may even picture the audience giving them a standing ovation at the end.

Sales, actors and speakers are all giving presentations.  They are all seeking approval and repeat performances.  The difference is that a speaker is seeking a standing invitation more than a standing ovation.

Success starts with a positive expectation.  Success starts with the desired image prior to the actual performance.  Success begins within your own thoughts and feelings.  Give yourself every advantage.

  1. Research the company in advance
  2. Know exactly what problem you are hired to solve
  3. Customize your solution to the audience (client)
  4. Think and visualize positive outcomes throughout the presentation before the event
  5. Write, tweak and rewrite your message until it flows easily
  6. Practice, practice, practice.  Practice speaking your message aloud.  Spoken messages need to sound conversational, not as if you are reading.
  7. Dress in your favorite outfit to look and feel your best
  8. Step on stage with confidence.  Focus on doing the best for the audience.
  9. Deliver the message you intend to convey with poise, conviction and authenticity

Remember the words of the wise old Cherokee; the wolf who wins is “The one you feed.”  Rephrased as the tag line of the book Emotional Ice Water, “It is about what you think, feel and do.”  You have control of the situation when you have control of your own mind.

Energy Barriers

How will your life change if you have more energy? Where would you invest your additional productive time? Would you achieve more with your career? Spend more quality time with those you love? Maybe you would even put yourself on your priority list and do something for yourself, just for fun.

If you are like me, you probably have a l-o-n-g list of “I will do this just as soon as I have time.” Volunteering in the community, spending more quality time (focused hours rather than time when part of my mind drifts in and out with “I need to remember to do . . .”) and creating more materials to assist others are all activities which vie for the time available. If we truly desire to do these activities, why don’t we? The common excuse/reason becomes “not enough hours in the day or not enough energy.” Is it really not enough hours or is it the energy to invest in doing additional activities? Do other items seem to rank higher on your priority list? Sometimes the urgent and important seem to bump the important but less immediately urgent off the list entirely. By the end of the day, eight hours or sixteen hours depends on your individual schedule, exhaustion sets in and you sit down with a sigh of “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

Did you over-schedule the time required, become distracted, or simply run out of energy before you ran out of tasks to do? With more energy, you could accomplish more.

Energy comes from three main sources: nutrition, sleep and mindset. The items and quantity which enters our mouth influences our energy. Sugar, kiddy cocaine, sends our blood sugar rocketing to the top of the scale and then crashing down to the sub-basement level with alarming speed. Overeating slows down every body function; all of your energy becomes focused on digesting the massive meal. With the depletion of energy comes the overwhelming urge to close your eyes in a nap. Starchy foods tend to react much the same as sugar only on a more roller coaster curve than sharp peaks. Too little food or too little nutritious food and the body does not have the fuel to produce energy. What you do or do not eat has a significant impact on your energy.

The second influence on energy is sleep. Optimum sleep time varies with age and quality of the sleeping hours. Even though the basal sleep need varies with each person, the need to consistently receive sufficient sleep is necessary for all individuals. Sleep deprivation can lead to serious health consequences.

In a recent article it stated: “short sleep duration is linked with:
• Increased risk of motor vehicle accidents
• Increase in body mass index – a greater likelihood of obesity due to an increased appetite caused by sleep deprivation
• Increased risk of diabetes and heart problems
• Increased risk for psychiatric conditions including depression and substance abuse
• Decreased ability to pay attention, react to signals or remember new information.
According to researchers Michael H. Bonnet and Donna L. Arand, “There is strong evidence that sufficient shortening or disturbance of the sleep process compromises mood, performance and alertness and can result in injury or death. In this light, the most common-sense ‘do no injury’ medical advice would be to avoid sleep deprivation.”
Nutrition and sleep both impact your energy level; however, the number one energy drain according to the One Percent Club is negative thinking. Your mindset maintains the most significant influence on your energy level. Negative thoughts can drain your energy faster than Superman can fly through the air. (If you are a Superman aficionado, you know he is reputed to be faster than a speeding bullet.)
Mahatma Gandhi, Indian political and spiritual leader (1869 – 1948) said, “Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny.”
You can chose to hold a positive or a negative thought but not both at the same time. Positive thoughts escalate into successful and happy lives. Negative thoughts drag your mood down, deplete your energy and throw a wet blanket over your life. Even worse, negativity throws an icy wet blanket over everyone around you.
Emotional Ice Water is a solution focused book detailing immediately implementable steps you can take to restore the peace within your soul. Numerous causes of negativity are explained along with potential solutions for each situation.
You maintain a high degree of control over your nutrition and sleep; however, your mind is totally within your control. Removing emotional barriers and enhancing positive thoughts will lift your emotional spirits and boost your energy.
What will you do when your mind is totally on a positive track and your emotional and physical energy is restored to peak levels?
